Dear Members,
Many of you, no doubt, have been following the events regarding the Mayor's
decision to not reappoint Betty Noel and instead nominate Vicky Beasley as the
People's Counsel for the District. We propose to add our voice to those of
other citizens' associations across the city who are against this decision. We
are at an important stage since the decision is now before the entire City
Council. The Council will soon vote on a "disapproval resolution" that would
finally reject the Mayor's nominee.
Your CPCA Executive Committee believes it to be in the interest of CPCA members,
and the entire city for that matter, that we endorse the pending disapproval
resolution. It is in our interest to have vigorous enforcement of the utility
regulations by an experienced administrator. We are preparing a letter that we
will send to the City Council on Monday. As soon as we send it, we will post it
on this listserv and the CPCA website.
We would like to hear your views before we finalize the letter. We encourage
you to share your comments here on this listserv.
